Location: Bay Area

Position Type: full-time hire, salaried

Position Summary: As a licensed ENGEO Senior/Project Engineering Geologist your work is crucial in keeping communities in the Bay Area safe! Working alongside talented peers and technical leaders, you will perform detailed technical analysis of earth material and assess geological hazards on a wide variety of challenging and world-renowned projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Characterize and evaluate soil, rock, groundwater and other natural conditions prior to major construction projects

  • Identify and develop mitigation measures for potential geological hazards affecting engineering works

  • Consult geological maps and historic stereoscopic aerial photographs for site characterization and detailed geologic mapping

  • Monitor development areas and characterize and evaluate geological conditions to ensure that existing and proposed structures are secure in the short and long term

  • Perform geological observations, approvals and detailed geologic mapping during mass grading

  • Plan and conduct detailed field explorations involving field mapping, drilling, test pits, trenches and collection and characterization of soil and bedrock samples

  • Analyze sites and designs for environmentally-sensitive developments, such as landfill sites

  • Communicate and collaborate with peers (locally and in other regional offices), clients, and subcontractors

  • Supervise field investigations and visit new and existing project sites

  • Serve and mentor a multi-disciplinary staff, including other engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, consultants and field representatives

  • Assist with the design of built structures, using specialized computer software or calculations

  • Perform well-defined field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities as required

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed CEG

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Civil Engineering with a Geology focus

  • Must be able to legally work within the United States and have a clean driving record.

  • Must own/have access to a field vehicle (truck/SUV)

Other Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Geology
